3.1 AFFECTED PRODUCTS
The following versions of LAquis SCADA, an industrial automation software, are affected:

3.2 VULNERABILITY OVERVIEW
Opening a specially crafted report format file allows execution of script code, which may allow remote code execution, data exfiltration, or cause a system crash.
Opening a specially crafted project file may cause an out of bounds read, which may allow data exfiltration.
Opening a specially crafted project file may cause improper control of generation of code, which may allow remote code execution, data exfiltration, or cause a system crash.
An attacker using a specially crafted project file can supply a pointer for a controlled memory address, which may allow remote code execution, data exfiltration, or cause a system crash.
Opening specially crafted report format file may cause an out of bounds read, which may cause a system crash, allow data exfiltration, or remote code execution.
The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to disclose sensitive information under the context of the web server process.

Taking in user input without proper authorization or sanitation may allow an attacker to execute remote code on the server.
Use of hard coded credentials may allow an attacker unauthorized access to the system with high-privileges.
An authentication bypass is possible, which may allow an attacker access to sensitive data.

NCCIC recommends users take defensive measures to minimize the risk of exploitation of this vulnerability. Specifically, users should:
- Minimize network exposure for all control system devices and/or systems, and ensure that they are not accessible from the Internet.
- Locate control system networks and remote devices behind firewalls, and isolate them from the business network.
- When remote access is required, use secure methods, such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), recognizing that VPNs may have vulnerabilities and should be updated to the most current version available. Also recognize that VPN is only as secure as the connected devices.
NCCIC reminds organizations to perform proper impact analysis and risk assessment prior to deploying defensive measures.
